Louise Bergerson (Co-president) had a long career in education as a teacher, science department head, and academic dean. After retirement in 2014, she combined her lifelong love of teaching with a deep interest in learning Spanish and founded Aprendiendo Ingles Ahora, the precursor to Ruta27. Originally from New York City, she now lives in Amagansett. As a board member of Ruta27, she sees the organization’s growth not as a goal in itself but as the result of meeting the needs of the Latino community in East Hampton.

Adriana Leon (Co-president) has been an essential point of reference for the Latino community in East Hampton for many years. She is employed full time in the service industry but still makes time to teach ESL at Ruta27 and privately. Adriana, originally from Cuenca, Ecuador, came to the United States in 1997. At the time, she spoke no English but took classes at Suffolk County Community College and Eastern Suffolk BOCES. As a Board member, she is interested in helping Ruta27 evolve and keep up with the changing needs of the Latino community.

Tom Moore (Secretary) is an attorney with a distinguished corporate law and nonprofit management career. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer for the National Committee on U.S.-China, he is fluent in Mandarin and French. His international experience includes living in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Switzerland.  Originally from New York City, he lives in Sag Harbor and is on the Board of the Sag Harbor Food Pantry. As a board member of Ruta27, he looks forward to contributing his skills and experience working for several non-profits to support the organization’s mission.

Andrew Visconti (Treasurer) is a retired professional journalist with a long career in reporting. Originally from Italy, he has been a resident of the United States since the early 1980s. Andrew continues to share his passion for writing in retirement by leading memoir writing workshops at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility (SCCF). As a board member, he is actively engaged in community outreach on behalf of Ruta27. He is dedicated to expanding the presence and impact of the organization in the East Hampton area.

Teresita Winter is a licensed bilingual social worker serving the East Hampton School District. In addition to her role as a social worker, she acts as the community liaison for the Latino community, offering outreach services and educational workshops to families connected with the district. Originally from Paraguay, Teresita immigrated to the United States at 9. As a board member of Ruta27, she is committed to advocating for community resources and promoting development initiatives to better serve the Latino community.
